My Favorite High Yield Savings Accounts

SoFi

SoFi’s HYSA consistently has one of the highest APY’s (interest rate) of any major HYSA, plus they typically offer some sort of bonus for signing up for direct deposit. There are no account fees, they have $2 million in FDIC insurance protection for your cash, their direct deposit feature allows you to be paid up to 2 days early, and their attached checking account also offers a competitive interest rate.

Discover

Discover is consistently one of the highest-rated HYSAs among the major players, and it’s not hard to see why. They have a competitive APY, no fees, FDIC insurance, and an option automatically roll over your HYSA funds to your checking account for overdraft protection. Plus, they also offer a wide range of other accounts/offerings, like a checking account, certificates of deposit, and a money market account.

Public

While Public doesn’t officially offer an HYSA, they offer something extremely similar: a Treasury Account. This is an account that invests your cash into Treasury Bills (debt notes from the US government), but still lets you maintain the same flexibility with your money as an HYSA. As of the time I’m writing this, the interest rate paid from Public’s Treasury Account is significantly higher than both the HYSAs I’ve listed here.
